Still Awake

34 minutes of wakeful calm.

Your eyes are closed. Your curiosity stays awake.

Your body grows heavy and still. Your mind stays clear and awake. You may recognize this moment from drifting off to sleep: brief, fleeting, already gone. Still Awake gives that moment room to linger.

With handcrafted music, gentle surf, and precisely layered tones, designed for your headphones.

  • Stereo headphones
  • Handcrafted music, not generated
  • Just a few words

Audio preview

Hear how still music can be.

Warm washes of sound unfold. A quiet motif emerges, lingers for a breath, then fades away. Beneath it, the surf breathes, and a calm voice gently guides you in. The preview gives you a feel for the sound. The full musical arc unfolds in the complete session.

  1. Put on your headphones. Any stereo headphones will work.
  2. Keep the volume low. Soft and comfortable, almost in the background. Turning it up doesn’t deepen the experience.
  3. Close your eyes. Exhale. Listen. That’s all you need to do.

React less. Notice more.

Your screen is off. Your mind isn’t.

Your workday is over. Your thoughts just haven’t noticed yet. They’re finishing emails, carrying on conversations, already planning tomorrow morning. Give yourself something better than another distraction: 34 minutes when no one needs anything from you. Not even you.

A melody that holds you.

An original, slowly recurring motif carries you through warm washes of sound and airy textures. Handcrafted, not generated. The music is the heart of this session, not a backdrop for frequencies.

Precision that doesn’t demand attention.

Beneath the music are carefully balanced tone layers, gently shifting noise, and surf. What you hear most is the sense of space they create. The technology stays where it belongs: beneath the surface.

A few words. Plenty of time for you.

A calm voice offers guidance, then steps back. Long passages without words give you time to tune in to your own experience.

A beginning. A deepening. A return.

One continuous work, not a sequence of tracks. Nothing is left to chance. Even the closing moments are composed to bring you back gently.

Origins and sound architecture

“Mind awake, body asleep.” Four words. One name.

Body still,

mind awake.

Hence the name.

  1. 1985 Robert Monroe describes “Focus 10” in Far Journeys. 1
  2. 1994 U.S. Patent 5,356,368 includes the “Septon” multi-tone example. 2
  3. Today Still Awake, an original composition from the Whisperer Collection.

Robert Monroe spent decades exploring the relationship between sound and consciousness. He described one state with particular clarity, calling it “Focus 10”: the body rests as if asleep, while the mind stays awake.1 His work later gave rise to the Hemi-Sync® audio technology.

We took that idea seriously and listened closely. For Still Awake, we studied Monroe’s publicly available patent and composed our own response: music first, with a precise stereo architecture beneath it and long passages without words.2 The session’s structure draws on the ritual knowledge we developed with healers and shamans for the Whisperer Collection: arrive, linger, return.

Still Awake is an original, independent Mindwhisperer composition by BOHN AI. It is not a Hemi-Sync® product or part of the Gateway program, and it was created without collaboration with Interstate Industries, Inc. or The Monroe Institute.

Your 34 minutes, 28 seconds

  1. 0:00 to 8:00

    The world can wait.

Music and surf open the session. A few opening words help you settle in as the tone layers gently enter. There’s nowhere you need to get to. Find a comfortable spot and simply listen.

  2. 8:00 to 27:00

    Less movement. More awareness.

The music becomes sparser, the sound more spacious. Stay with the sound, or let your attention move through your body. Thoughts can come and go; you don’t have to follow them.

  3. 27:00 to 31:00

    This time is yours.

The voice falls silent. Music, surf, and tone layers remain. Four minutes with no instructions, no goal, and no next step.

  4. 31:00 to 34:28

Come back at your own pace.

Movement gently returns to the music as the tone layers recede. Let the final sound be part of your session, too, before you reach for your phone again.

  • 200, 204, 208 Hz Left channel
  • 204, 208, 212 Hz Right channel
  • 4 Hz Frequency spacing in cross-channel pairs and between adjacent tones within each channel
  • 7 Beats in the “Septon”

The tonal foundation consists of 200, 204, and 208 Hz in the left channel, and 204, 208, and 212 Hz in the right. It follows a multi-tone example from Robert Monroe’s U.S. Patent 5,356,368. Monroe called this arrangement a “Septon” because it produces seven beats. 2

Each of three tone pairs, with one tone in the left channel and one in the right, has a frequency difference of 4 Hz. Adjacent tones within each channel are also 4 Hz apart. Here, 4 Hz is not a bass tone—it is the difference between audible frequencies. To preserve this structure, each ear needs its own signal. That’s why you need stereo headphones.

There is also “Phased Pink Sound”: softly filtered pink noise that moves gently through the stereo field. Together with the surf, it blends the tone layers and music into a single listening environment.

Your listening ritual

Headphones on. Notifications off.

  1. Choose your moment.

After an intense stretch of work, in the early evening, or whenever your mind feels too full. What matters is having 40 minutes with nothing else on the agenda.

  2. Get comfortable.

Sit or lie down. Breathe naturally. You don’t need any prior experience.

  3. Set up your sound.

Use stereo headphones at a low, comfortable volume. Turn off mono playback and 3D audio (Spatial Audio) so each ear receives its own signal.

  4. Listen from beginning to end.

Start at the beginning and stay through the final sound. Afterward, stay still for another moment and notice how you feel.

Thoughts are welcome.

You don’t need to suppress anything. As soon as you notice a thought, simply return to the melody, the surf, or the voice. That’s enough.

Listen safely.

Do not listen while driving, operating machinery, or doing anything that requires your full attention. Stop playback if anything feels uncomfortable.

Your moment

The world can wait. You stay awake.

All day, you respond to the world. These 34 minutes are for tuning in to yourself.

Questions and answers

What you might still be wondering.

The complete Still Awake session: 34 minutes and 28 seconds, composed as one continuous work and mastered for stereo headphones. Introductory price: €89.90. After the introductory period: €129.00.

A frequency generator produces individual tones. Still Awake weaves them into an original musical journey, with melody, tone layers, voice, silence, and the return carefully coordinated. The music is handcrafted, not generated. It’s the difference between a metronome and a concert.

Any stereo headphones will work—wired or Bluetooth, including earbuds. Just make sure mono playback and 3D audio (Spatial Audio) are turned off.

The music and surf sound beautiful through speakers, too. But the binaural structure needs separate signals for each ear. For the full listening experience, use headphones.

No. You don’t need to suppress your thoughts or master a breathing technique. Music and a few words offer guidance. Just press play and listen.

That’s completely fine. Don’t fight it. To experience that wakeful calm, choose a time when you’re not already very tired.

A listening environment for relaxation and meditative awareness. Still Awake is composed to let your body settle while your attention stays with the sound. How it feels may vary from day to day. There is no state you have to achieve.

As often as works for you. Start with one unhurried session, then decide for yourself. There’s no set listening schedule.

No. Hemi-Sync® is the audio technology and brand that grew out of Robert Monroe’s work. Still Awake is an independent Mindwhisperer composition by BOHN AI. The connection comes from our study of publicly documented approaches, not from a license or collaboration.

The idea of physical stillness with wakeful awareness was a starting point for our concept. Still Awake is an original musical session shaped by that idea, not Gateway training. No specific Focus level is guaranteed.

If you have epilepsy or another seizure disorder, talk to your doctor before listening. The same applies if you’re receiving psychotherapy or if deep relaxation has made you uncomfortable in the past. Never listen while driving or navigating traffic. Still Awake is an audio ritual, not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy.
